One thing is for sure, if you are going to wear slogans on your clothing at least make sure that you like the quote on display! Given the choice, I’d choose bold patterns and prints over slogan tees any day. With that being said however, I have taken a strong liking to the comical quotes on make-up bags which seem to be very popular of late. Slogans such as “Losing You Hurt But Losing My Makeup Bag Would be a Tragedy”, “Success is the Only Option Because I Like Expensive Makeup” and “I Run on Coffee, Sarcasm and Lipstick” are humorous quotes bursting with feminist attitude that most millennial girls love to see – way better than the typical “Too Cool for School” type phrases that you often see on slogan t-shirts in clothing stores. The saying “More Issues than Vogue” caught my eye and I thought that it would look great on a plain white tee. Obviously you can choose your own text or image to add to a shirt or you could even make up your own quote. Either way, the same DIY method (see below) still applies.

How to Create Your Own DIY More Issues than Vogue T-shirt

  1. Lay your t-shirt down flat onto a hard surface. Place the print out underneath the front layer of the t-shirt. Important tip: unlike with iron-transfers, your print out doesn’t need to be reversed. Simple print the text or picture out as normal, as the sheet will not be flipped round!
  2. Trace over the letters or image using pencil. Or if you feel more comfortable, you can go straight in with the fabric markers. Carefully trace the image and colour in where necessary.
  3. Using the fabric markers you may want to go over the text or image a couple of times to ensure that the ink looks sharp and clear.
  4. Allow for the ink to dry into the shirt and then using either an iron or a pair of hair straighteners, iron over the work you have done with the fabric markers – this will help to set the ink so that it doesn’t bleed or wash out when put in the washing machine.
  5. Your t-shirt is ready to wear! Congratulations! Washing directions: wash on a cool wash to prevent the ink from fading or disappearing completely, or if possible wash by hand.
