At the end of November I signed up to join Dressember, which means I accept the challenge to wear a dress each and every day throughout December in order to raise money and awareness for this great cause. If anything, it has been a learning curve – both for me and readers who have been following my journey so far! It turns out it is quite possible to wear dresses in this cold, winter month, provided that you style each outfit sufficiently. Here is how I am getting on with this challenge so far…
Dressember Day 13 Outfit of the Day
A faux leather jacket always looks great over a dress. The tasteful combination of femininity and rebel serves as a stylishly brilliant pairing! I’ve worn this dress already during the Dressember challenge (for Day 1 of Dressember) but this time I have styled the garment a little differently than before, opting for a cool and casual look that is warm and practical for this time of year. This striped dress has quite a high slit along one side which is why I always make sure that I wear leggings and boots underneath. Other than that, turning this simple summer slip dress into something that can be worn for winter was easy – it’s easy to layer and works well with lots of my winter jumpers and jackets. The grey faux leather jacket is a more subtly version to black, which blends well together with the dress, without appearing too contrasting. The addition of the black ankle boots adds a neutral tone to the look, which prevents the difficulty of having to find footwear in another appropriate shade.

What is Dressember?
Everyday throughout the month of December, participants are required to wear a dress instead of trousers, jeans, leggings, etc. Among some minorities, dresses represent weakness and inequality, which is why participants of the campaign will be wearing them across the entire 31-day project. We are wearing dresses to raise awareness and collect donations to end modern day slavery and human trafficking. Donations raised help fund life-saving work through the International Justice Mission and A21, who are partnering with the Dressember team for this cause.
How Can I Get Involved in Dressember 2017?
You can become an advocate and get involved by wearing a dress every day of this month. You can support Online Personal Stylist and donate here. You can also share this post and my campaign page to help raise awareness for this campaign. And, as I’m providing daily styling tips this month through my daily dress outfit posts, you can also take these points on board by learning how to revamp items in your wardrobe that you already own. Despite being a professional fashion stylist, I’m a serious advocate for sustainable and cruelty-free fashion, which is one of the reasons this campaign really appealed to me. All this month I will be showing you how you can wear almost any item from your wardrobe at any time of the year. As you will see throughout this project, many of the dresses I plan to wear are actually from my summer wardrobe! With the help of some clever styling tricks, a dose of creativity, and strategic layering tactics, it is possible to transfer many of your garments between contrasting seasons!
